Im in the process of building the M up for pulling. I have a set of 18.4 x 38 tires and dual wheels with hubs too mount on the axles. Would these be too big or be allright. The tread is about 30-40%. If so do you dish them in or put them on the standard way?
Thanks for any info

What hubs are you using to bolt the tin pans on? Are they the same hubs as a 1086? I have a super m that I am working on and am unsure of the hub that would work. Any info would help.

if you have the motor to turn them also befor you do alot of work check your rules some places 15.5x38 is as large a tire the let pull in classes 6500# and lower

They work, but they still spin in the lighter classes. And as posted by others, you have to pull in first gear, no matter what class - the larger diameter makes the gears a bit faster than standard. The biggest problem is... they float so much that they don't get a chance to bite in. The one time I've seen where they were effective was when they pulled on a track with crushed rock just under the surface.

I'd recommend that you stick with 16.9 tires unless you are going to weight the tractor for 7000+.

they would give you good traction, BUT- they are going to be a larger overall diameter, meaning it will take away some of the "oomph" you have. going with a smaller one, like 18.4-30, might be better. But then again, i have no experience pulling, i only farm.

I've seen several M tractors using 18.4 38 tires. Most turn the deep dish inside for width to make them narrow to haul. The bad thing is your hub is mounted out on end of axle puts more stress on axle. Some cut the weld where the center is welded to the rim and slide in so you can move the hub in closer to the tractor.Unless you are going to be pulling heavy classes don't think you would have any problems breaking anything.
