I recently purchased a couple of 1100 massey heads in good condition. Was wondering if anyone could tell me how much i could shave off one of these heads without ruinin it. I want to put it on a Oliver 880 gas engine. Would i be safe takin 80thousand off of it or would this be too much Thanks for any input or ideas.

As you can see - check your rules before you run the 1100 head. Alot of clubs do not allow this head. The 1100 Massey was a 90+ hp. in the mid to late 60's.
Good Luck!

All the big bad olivers use 1100 heads, like Bear and Tilley

I'm in the process of trying to get more power from my 880. I'm new to tractors and pulling and am very slowly gathering info. What does the 1100 have that makes it better than the stock 880. My 880 head has already been done because of corrosion around the ports from previous exhaust leaks. Plus new valves, guides, and -.056" from the deck while I had it off. Got any other hints aside from the head? Thanks!

The 195gku has 1.60" exhaust valves and 1.875" intake valves-compare that to an 880-big difference. If your looking for a 195 head e-mail me.

Hey Travis: Do you see any problems putting a 195gku into an Oliver 1750 or 1755?

The ports are bigger than the ports you have now. A Waukesha GK195 head has rectangular intake ports (1 1/2" x 1 7/8") and bigger exhaust ports (1 1/2" diameter). I believe the Massey 1100 gas head is the same. Valve sizes are larger as well and the manifold set will flow a lot more.

Take care,
A.P.

Why shave it? You will have good comp. without messing with it. The 1100 Massey head will have more comp. then the 99 Oliver or 195 GK. If you are going to use this head, make sure you have some cu. to back it up. 450 cu. and up. I would make up your comp. with the pistons, and not the head. With flat top 4.500 pistons you will be around 12 to 1. Food for thought.
Good Luck!

Don't shave it all! Some of these heads are pretty thin already. Like the man said make up the comp with the pistons. 4 3/8 is trouble free, sometimes 4.5 in pistons cause problems with the sleeves. Art

1100 Massey heads are different then a 195 GK industrial. The combustion chamber is alot smaller on the 1100 vs the industrial. Compression is alot more on 1100 head, I prefer this head over industrials.

ever hear of domed pistons?? There is nothing wrong with a 195 head. The valves and ports are just as big-compression is by no means restricted be combustion chamber cc's.You just have to know what it is to adjust comprestion with your pistons. And if your not getting custom pistons made, then your not looking for real horse power.

Yes I have heard of that. Thanks for the important tip. I am sure you know everthing. Some people dont want to spend that kind of money. And why should you? Just find a 1100 and forget about the low compression 195 Gas engine head.

The 195 head is a little more available than the f320 head-you do know the model number of the 1100 head dont you?
