I bought an oliver 88 gas and was wanting to make a pure puller out of it. What is the max bore and stroke you can make out of it. Who makes kits for it? Thanks

Uncle Lawrence G. in Ohio
I don't know if Duke does 88's anymore or not?
Duke did Tilleys, Bears, and Coxs. They all did there own stuff later on to them.
I would stay with a 4 3/8 bore, with a good size crank. After 5 5/8 you have to start doing alot of grinding. With a 88 block - 4 9/16 by 6 1/4 is about the limit. If you can run some rpm's, I wouldn't go crazy on the cu. I would try to do it yourself, unless you got a big pocket book, and really want that $10.00 dollar trophy.
Check your rules first.

Got beat a few weeks ago. Loose track and wouldn't hook. Driver error. Cody Agent got him by a few feet with an Oliver/????? turning 7 thousand rpm. But he made up for it at the state fair.

I have never seen an A pull 5th gear at 15 mph.
In other pulls, wheel speed is the name of the game. Thats why there are differant kinds of pulls.
A lot of people just don't like 1st gear. Thats why they start with your kind of pulling and end up with Winston Cup Drag racing.

A-man your so full of it whenever you open your mouth sh!t rolls out of it. There is no way in hee! that a 34 hp junk 2 banger is gonna beat a 200 hp oliver. I think someone is just mad cause 2 bangers cant run with the big olivers.

You can get about 620 cid out of it and a good engine will run you anywhere from 25,000 to 35,000. about a 4.5 bore by 6.5 stroke.

And it can be done WITHOUT breaking or bending the NATPA rules.

about 600 cubic inches .about 200 horse power( dependig on rules turbo? rpm?) i,m talking naturally aspirated at 30% over and $20,000 for the engine plus probably $10,000 for tires transmission rearend gears and modifactions.no those are not canadian prices . But a lot can be done to have fun for on abudget.pulling in div. 1 and div.2 is more about tires and balance than engines . ask a guy that has a jd ( or other model)with a creaper gear
