I have a 560 gas tractor. Can anyone help me on how to build a motor for pulling. And yes I know all about the 301, but no body has every told me what cam to use, what pistons, what valve train. Stuff like that. Thanks in advance.

Didn't know they worked on legitimate 460 engines, just ones that are in question to being legal?

yes that is a legit. div. 5 301. and makes plenty of hp. If you need a quality engine and are serious about pulling this is the engine to have.

What are the rules for the class you want to pull in? RPM limit? Lots of variables. Unfortunately its not as easy as what parts to BUY, it comes down to what you can make or have made or even take something and modify it to work for your application. Where are you located.

Be Glad to Help
Best of luck,

Brad

I'm located in SE Iowa and the rules vary, but for the most part you can do anything to the tractor as long as it is the original block or replacement. I've already turned it up to around 3 grand and that is as far as I can go. I've had the head planed down as far as it can go, other than that, it's a stock motor. I would just like to get somewhere over 100 hp.

I appreciate all this stuff about Bill Bear, but that isn't what I asked about. I wanted to know what I could do to my tractor. If you want to get a discussion started on that I'm sure you could.

Who said anything about this bear guy? Isn't it just common to use the V-8 truck heads on any 460/560 fixup? I think almost all farmall pullers to this on a regular basis don't they? Surely noone meant this "guy in question" would ever do anything that s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-s the rules at all!!
