I need some help; I have a 49 JD “A” # 634700. What is the different between the head # A2325R and A3367R, A4226R. My parts book says that A2325R is for 488000 to 583999 and A3367R, A4226R is for 58400 and up (which is for mine) I have the A2325R and I am going to shave it down for more compression. Will this head give me as much performance as the one for the late styled (A3367R, A4226R)? I can get the proper head if it will give more HP or me better breathing. Thanks for any and all comments.

Use the late head if you can, It will have approx 6 cu in less volume in the combustion chamber, so will raise your compression significantly without milling. Air flow should be about the same in all 3 heads. Your best bet is to use a late head, mill it down, and late A/60 M&W (or similar) aluminum pistons (you'll have to grind the spark plug notch in the piston down some more). This should get the comp up to 7.75 to 8:1 range. Mike
