Hi there, just got myself a JD5020 here in the UK and hoping to enter in the local tractor pull in August. Question is what gears best to use and how much throttle ? The tractor is standard and is fitted with 24.5 32 rears. I will be entering the "farmers class" i.e. not to many mods and straight off the farm. Usually they have quite new JDs, Case, Fendt etc so I'm thinking I might have the oldest machine there. Just don't want to look like a fool first time out ! Thanks anyway.

I would pull the beast in third or fourth depending on the conditions. Used to pull a 5020 couple years back. Started at 18,500# and went to 22,500# and didn't do that bad. Are you going to use duals?
