What do you fellow pullers think of POSI/LIMITED slip differentials in Antiques? I do build them for many makes and models, I am not tring to advertise, I just want a opinion from you all. I have heard alot of controversy over this issue, good or bad. Me personally, I have had great luck with them in the past. I had to remove the kit I had in my tractor because our rules in our club does not allow this kind of modification to a modified pulling tractor. What do you think?? ChadS

Come on gentlemen! Let's hear your opinions! This is unexplored territory, yes people have built them in the past, but did they work? What are your stories of good and bad experiences?

My old Deutz tractors have posi from the factory, surely that would be allowed.
I personally never use it unless its a loose loose track. The traction does not out weigh the
control(steering or straight line)
Just my opinion.

Lots O Luck

Hey! there you are!!! You know Massey Harris had a posi from the factory as well. I really don't belive that a full posi will work unless you have the weight, hp, ground speed, and balance to countersteer the tractor. I do belive that a limited slip style would be more approriate, for under 12 mph pulling. It would allow you to turn or brake the tractor during a pull, more control over the tractor. Does the NATPA have rules against this? Just wondering, just my opinion too!!! LOL ChadS

I believe that the more even you can spin your tires the better reguardless of what style it is. I would perfer the limited slip style so you could turn around abetter and that stuff, but other then that, I could care less. I dont' think it would make a difference if it's all time or not on the track. How would you go abouts makeing a tractor spin more even? We have a JD A, JDG, and I will soon be pullin a U moline. thanks for any help.

I would say that a less agressive tire, or a shorter set of tires. I can build a limited slip for a U moline. Usualy I have seen alot of good JD drivers use the brakes and control their wheel spin, just as well as any differential device!! Balance is the key! A JD is a fun tractor to pull in my opinion. I have a 730 gas I pull every once in a while, and I just enguage the clutch, open the throttle and go man go! I have made sure that the rear wheel spacing is the same on both sides from the center of the tractor, Our sled has a pattern that it makes in the track and that has told me about where to set the spacing.
