You are in the WRONG class. You need to be in the 4500 to 5500 or the 5500 to 6500. We pull both classes with our Super M and have no trouble winning. You will need a few weights on the nose in the heavy class. 7500#class is too much even for a Super M. In our area the 400/450/880 pull that class. Good Luck!! Don't forget the pull at the Auburn Fairgrounds in Auburn IN on Sept 1

1st of all, 4500-5500 are the wrong classes to pull your M unless you are BONE STOCK in the engine. I have an M with 15.5x38 Field and Roads and I can pull all the way down to 4500# w/ 150# hanging on the back. I weight 235lbs. If you have done any work much at all to the engine (58 HP or more), you will spin out on any track you pull on b/c you don't have the weight transfer that some of the lighter tractors have. However, if you go up a gear, you can get every bit of power to the ground. Since an M isn't much faster in 2nd than in 1st, you can easily pull 2nd gear and not break the speed limit(Most pulls is 3-1/2 MPH in stock classes). I pull 5700 stock in 2nd gear and 6200 stock about half and half either 1st or 2nd depending on track conditions. As far as pulling heavy goes, I have a Super M that pulls up to 9200# with a stock stroke engine. I have one 3 championships in 7200 stock, 1 in 8200, 1 in 6200 and finished 2nd in 5700 and 6200 in the last 3 years. I have pulled in Florida, Georgia, NC, SC, and have been very competitive. I have outpulled on many occaisions 730 and 830 JD's, 600 Cases, G Molines, 560 Farmalls, 98 Masseys (3-71 GM Motor), G JD's, 88 Olivers, etc.,etc. These weren't push-overs either. They've whipped me also but were pretty well even in most cases. The trick to pulling above about 7500 without stroking the engine is to get a LP Head.

What does the LP head do to enhance performance on a puller? I have a 53 Super M I plan on pulling in antique classes and have heard a few times about the LP head. I don't want to bore out my engine, but I would like to achieve as much power as possible. I know how to operate the carb settings on the tractor itself, but I have also been given crazy ideas from putting a small air compresser on the air intake to increase RPMs without serious modifications. Let me know, you seem very knowledgeable on this topic. Thank you.

run about 8-9 psi in your tires.if you pull in the 7500# class you may want to throw a few weights out front if you think your tires will get a good bite.(not a bad idea anyway, until you get used to seeing that front end up about 1-2 ft.!!!)-if you don't have wheelie bars you may want to build some in the next 2 weeks-many clubs make them mandatory to pull with.-if the track is sticky run 1st gear or you will probably lose power real quick..... .hope this helps ya.
