gasket got a leak in between carb and intake on wd

hi in my previous post about the wd going only 70 ft well i might have found the problem the gasket is out in between the carb and manifold how much does that affect my power

If you have a leak it will run lean and could run hot.kjm

If it is sucking air it will affect alot.

A few saturdays a go we made a last minute carb swap and didn't even put a gasket between the carb and manifold, i don't think it hurt our power much at all

at least there wasnt a hole leaking air out in between the carb and intake u had preety even surfaces i bet

If your air filter isn't very restrictive and the throttle plate is wide open there will not be a very high vacuum at the point were the gasket is. But with the throttle closed it could cause hard starting and idle quality issues. I'm not saying you can have vacuum leaks. But, it probably didn't cause as much of a H.P. problem as you would think.

Excessive wear in the casting were the throttle shaft rotates can also cause poor idling and make it hard to adjust the carb.
