Hello to everyone here at YT. Over the last few months I have been talking to alot of good people here at YT. Alot of great pulling teams, sharing their success, and their knowledge, and their love for tractor pulling. I loved every story, discussion and arguments here on YT. I used this forum to boost my self esteem, to talk tractor pulling. I have alot of good stories to tell myself. Whether, people belive what I say, That's up to you. I just wanted to share my 15 years of experience in antique tractor pulling, engine build ups, and cost efficient ways to make a tractor perform. I have offended a few of you due to my confidence in my ability. I guess you will have that once in a while. I just wanted to say this, I don't know it all. I am willing to learn, as well as teach others. Just my opinions That's all. ChadS

I was wondering what rod you use with a 305 piston? The stock H rod or some aftermarket one?
Or do you have to stroke it some to get the proper deck height? Around here the guys think you have to really BUZZ the motor to make alot of power. Thanks M&M

You have to have them welded. Run the H rod on the bottom, car rod on the top. Just make sure they are true.

I am not for sure, never used auto parts in a tractor engine! HA Ha!! You could use all sorts of different pistons for an H, the best one I found is a 806lp piston. You can use these pistons with the stock rods from 5in up to 5-3/4 stroker in an H. It is a 3-13/16 bore size. Hope this helps, ChadS

I Know I sound like I am a Smart A$$ most of the time. Well, I am. I respect all of your criticism, questions and comments. I am tring to help any puller outhere. There are lots of modifications available that people have not even heard of. Some of the ideas I have offered are on the border line of being "Unheard of" I hope I have not hurt my credibility on engine mods, by tring to explain a difficult procedure. Like the M rods and 450 small wrist pin idea. I have done this method to Hs, from stock, to modified. I hope this message finds everyone in good health, good point standings, and happy times. If, I have not been able to help, please tell me. I don't know it all. I don't claim to. I am a student of this great sport, and learning new technology everyday. Have a great evening!! ChadS

I think your ideas and insight have helped a lot and have certainly opened up some interesting discussions. You have been more than kind to me and had I not met you and heard your ideas about pulling an H, I know that I would not have had near the interest in the sport. See you at Medaryville, God willing..AC

opinions, I like them, we all have them and in a small way we are all alike we want to be known as being right. I have learned a great deal from your comments on engine building
I for one say keep on keeping on. I hope some day to meet you in person. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

ChadS let me ask your opion about this. What do you think about a F-20 chassis with a IHC 549 V-8 on it? Is it worth doing? I have a good F-20 chassis with junk motor and a good 549.

I got my 52 H home, and for the life of me, I can't break it free. I have used penetrating oil, pulled it, beat it with a hammer, and cussed at it for 4 days straight. The cylinder walls look perfect, and has had no water in it. I am getting frustrated! I wanted to get it running for the sake of checking out the drive train. GRRRRR....Now I have a '41 block, and a '52 block. Which one will work better? Thought I'd update ya... What do you think about the 305 chevy pistons? 3.75 bore....I guess I wouldn't want real light pistons because I want a lot of rotating weight to hold kinetic energy and momentum...hmmmm....picked up an 806 carb the other day for 10 bucks... ROTATING weight is alot different than reciprocating weight. If you think that a lot of mass is great for a piston find some boat anchors to put in there. It takes so many BTUs of energy to change the direction of mass; Bodies in motion tend to stay in motion, bodies at rest tend to stay at rest. The less the mass, the less BTUs you lose changing the direction of the piston. Use the lightest piston you can find!!

I agree to a certain extent. My opinion is this, When you are running high rpms, a lite weight piston and rod assembly works well. The engines that are low rpm need as much torque as they can get. I am not saying use lead for rods and pistons, nor boat anchors.Ha HA. I used lite weight parts in a low rpm engine, did not have the lugging power. When I used heavier parts, the torque curve increased. You have to run a higher compression ratio to run a heavier part in an engine. I am against using lite weight parts in a pulling engine below 2400rpms. But, if it works for you all, then by all means, go for it. Just my opinion. Chads

305 chevy pistons will work, You will run into problems building the compression up. If you like, I will email you with a few different ways to build an H. With, or without a stroker. Remember what I was telling you at South Bend? That was just the tip of the iceburg!! HA HA. ChadS

Yeah, I remember. One of the best things I can do is attend these pulls and see what I can learn just by observing and keeping my ears open. My e mail address is andrewcurry21@msn.com . I am going to get off the net and go change the oil in my truck so I can go down there tomorrow...Its the only one I have with a working radio and it's a long drive... later..AC
