I need some advice on sharpening tires on Hot top or concrete. Will both surfaces work. How long do you have to spin them in reverse? Do you do it with weight on the tractor and how much air do you put in the tires.

I personally prefer concrete, it doesn't roll like hot mix. However, as a work of caution, don't spin for long periods of time on concrete. It builds up heat and will explode the concrete. BTDT

GET THE AIR PRESSURE AND WEIGHT CLOSE TO WHERE YOU WOULD PULL AT PLUS EXTRA TO SIMULATE PULLING A SLED...SPIN IS REVERSE ABOUT 10-15 SECONDS AT A TIME AND ALTERNATE TO AVOID TOO MUCH HEAT BUILDUP..GO EASY UNTIL YOU GET ON TO IT...AL

How do you get the foward (leading0 edge sharp it seems to still have a rounded edge to it. Did I not spin it long enough?

Hey Steve! after you were looking at my tires at Lancaster I had a few pulling commitee members look at my "restoration" job, and they thought that it looked good. All you need is the right bit for your router. I can tell you where I got mine. See you at Deerfield.

You also might try turning your tires around and pulling something heavy, like a loaded grain truck with the brakes on, etc. Make sure that you can get the tires broke loose doing this though.
Run your PSI so that you get a nice flat print on the ground. Bleach on the tires will also help soften the lug and get them to spin quicker.
