Looking for more information on Sleeving a JD-G block. Will there be any grinding needed on the crank case to make a 7"-7.25" block fit. And where do I come up with pistons for this size bore?

Oh yah! Yes - you have to grind the crank case. It gets little thin on the clutch side. Anything over 6.750 you have to start grinding. You also have to grind your cam gear in half. Pistons-Jahns in Cal. still makes them. Merfeld in Iowa, can also make them. Merfeld also can sleeve blocks.

Good Luck!

What kind of dollar figure are we talking about for a 7" sleeve job? And pistons?

I think it's about $1200.00 for the block. Pistons run $750 to $800.00 with rings and pins.
Billet pistons about $1300.00
If you want, I'll try to find some phone numbers for you.

If you have the phone numbers I would be interested in them. What is the difference between the pistons, and the billet pistons, and are the billet pistons worth the extra money? What is your opinion on cam replacement? Thanks for the information, trying to get parts prices to decide what upgrades to do during the winter.
