I went to my first pull this past Saturday with a Massey Harris 44. My dad pulled the tractor in the 4500 3MPH class and it jumped out of gear so we didn't get any results. I pulled it in the 5000 3 MPH class and it ended up spinning out at 138 feet. We felt that it did pretty good for just a stock farm tractor, but I would love to see if it could do better with minor modifications. I wanted to see if you all had any tips for me. I was running 11 lbs of air in 13.6 x 38 tires. We were within 50 lbs of each class with weight added. I understand that the only work to the motor is that when it was rebuilt, it was bored to 4 1/8. It was running good, but lost traction. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Anothertractor

I saw your pull I think a new set of tires 14,9 or 15.5 and 23 degree tread, It sounds like you had enough motor to go to 6000 if you can hold it in 1st. I pulled my 44 in 5000 and spun went to 6000 and made all the differance. P.s glad to help with the miss.

If your pulling stock class and it's like NATPA rules, you can only use wheel weights so balance is tough. AT 11 pounds I'd say your tire pressure was too high,I run 9 in the 6500 with 14.9X38 on a super m. That is where I would start for pressure. I have not found a PSI gauge accurate enough on the market.Make one with liquid filled and lab accurate gauge, and balance your tires to the 1/4 pound or less, serious here some have thought I had a posi cause I rarely spin just one tire.I also swear by Titan tires. Don't waste your money on racing fuel or high test if you don't have the compression to need you lose horsepower. If it's not dusty drain the oil out of your oil bath filter. The difference there is noticed just starting, need the choke with out oil, don't with it. The rest is watching the line on the track,go out there if you can and poke a screwdreiver in it,see where it's hard or soft. I don't travel far to pull just local but I do pretty good, heck until this summer I was driving to pulls up to 50 miles away on the tractor!

can you run 14.9 or 15.5 tires what ever size make sure they are old and hard. we like 45 degree tires. look at the successful pullers tires to get some ideas. then weight placement is very important here again look at other pullers that do good. also look at there hitches and design a good one. good luck

We can use suitcase weights here so I can load more on the back to try to get the front wheels up a little bit. I definitely will drop the tire pressure and my hitch was 2 1/2 inches lower than it could be. I will try to correct that before saturday. Thanks, for the help.

Ride both of your brakes evenly too keep both tires pulling, because for us, when one tire starts the pull is over
