What engine is best dollar wise and dependable 540 570 or 630? Thank's Butch

the 540 would get the knod from me!if you want to build one you need a 466 ih crank,ih rods and 504 case sleeves and pistons.the sleeves have to be cut down,but it is the cheapest way to go and will take around 120 psi manifold pressure.the 570 is next in cost but not near as dependable as the 540,the 600 and 630 are just plain expensive and they are prone for breakage.

Please explain - The sleeves have to be cut down.

How do they need to be cut? Shorter in length? Smaller in diameter so they can fit a stock block? Do you bore the block for the bigger sleeves? Will the o-rings still work?
