Stroker Crank for H Farmall: Who Makes 'em?

Maybe I'm not too good at expressing myself, but I've been trying to find out who makes a quality stroker crank for a Farmall H...what strokes are available, whether they're welded or billet, and whose stuff is good and whose stuff is junk. But from the responses I've received, I'd almost think I was offering free root canal surgery. So far, ONE person on this board has given me a name and phone number of someone they recommend. (Thanks, TimC !)

Guys...is it ALL that big of a secret? By telling me who to ask, does that take away YOUR competitive advantage? I DID contact Murphy's, but he says he's booked solid and referred me to someone else (Thanks, Jeff!).

Any idea why, in general, this information is so hard to come by? I'd sure like to know.

Don't know if anybody makes a billet crank for an H or not. If so it would be expensive. Plenty of machine shops could stroke one for you, and yes the journals would have to be welded. Keith Merfeld of Peosta Iowa has a good reputation, and so does Stan Blades of Custom Crank in MO. You can find them in the Hook magazine or in the link section of the Hook's website.

Thanks, Flogger...I appreciate the info. Since I'm new to all this pullin' stuff, I don't get Hook magazine...but it's beginning to sound like maybe I should!

Keith Merfeld as suggested by Flogger is also a very good choice from what little I have heard.

The number I have for him is 563-583-8710.

I want to take the time here and now to publicly thank Andy, Flogger, TimC, and ChadS for going to the trouble of sharing their information.

And ChadS...wife and I are going to western Illinois (near St. Louis) for Thanksgiving to visit some of her family, and coming back on Friday...still trying to talk her into a "slight" detour off I-64, for a side trip to Princeton...haven't convinced her yet (said something about the pets going hungry [4 cats, 2 dogs, 2 birds, 1 dwarf hamster])...still working on her, though. Do they pull on both Friday and Saturday there? It's only about a 2-hour trip from home, so it's something I'm thinking about, even if it DOES have to wait until the animals are fed //lol//

Sounds like maybe you ought bring some crow...for certain folks to chew on when you get thru pullin'...Thanks for the pet food offer, but unless I convince the li'l wifey, I'll be out there singin' "Move It On Over" to the outside mutt if I sidetrip on Friday...//lol//...but Saturday's a different deal...just might be able to slip away for a 2-hour drive, as long as she knows it's to watch a pull (she really enjoyed Lanesville this past September!)...and she might even go with me!

HA HA,,, Maybe,,, They may teach me a thing or two, as well. I never underestimate other teams. Dedication and experience is what I base my pulling on,, someone is always better though. But I will give them a good run for the money.. Hope to see you and your wife there,, ChadS
