I am going to a farm auction tomorrow (saturday) here in SE Iowa. They have 8 100lb IH suitcase weights. What are these worth a piece?
Thanks,
Adam

Dumb question since I am not a farmer but how does JD and IHC weights differ? I have seen JD suitcase weights at a local scrap metal place I visit for $0.15 per lb which is the going price for any steel item there.

Your tractor will pull better with IH weights than with JD weights. Now for an hohnest answer the IH weights hang better than the JD weights due to the way there made. H.H.

What is it that is "used" about a weight? Do they weight less after they have been "used"? Do they start to use oil and need new rings?

Many areas figure 1.00 per pound for any weight. I dont pay that price. Make my own hang-on ones from grader and scraper cutting edges that are to worn to use. Also I have a source for used vibration dampers from large diesel engines that are replaced at engine rebuild time. they are about 100 lbs. each If you are going for original weights to keep your tractor looking right let your concience and wallet be your guide. Best Wishes dan wc ne wyo.

Salvage yards get from $25 to $40 each if you can find them. Saw a whole pallet full go for $62.50 each a few weeks ago. Two Hot Farm pullers bidding against each other. Said they couldn't find IH weights anywhere. The auction was in middle TN.
