stuck lifters

i have (2) 264 m blocks, both have stuck lifters,
is it possible to get them out without destroying the block ? need advice, have very little money in these chassis's

all help would be appreaciated

Hey Bud,

If they are real tight you might need to drive them out the top. Those tappets have holes in the sides and I broke some trying to knock them out the botom.

WHEN YOU DRIVETHEM OUT, OR WORK THEM OUT WHATEVER!! DOES THAT AFFECT THE THE BORE THEY SLIDE IN. HOW DO YOU FIGURE OUT IF THE LIFTER GALLAY CLEARANCE IS OK ? AND WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO CLEAN UP THE CONTACT SERFACE THEY RUN IN .

Bud,lube with penetrating oil,polish the sides that you can get to and tap them out.You may have to work them up and down some before they will come out.Sorry I missed you at Wauseon.

Hey Budd,

A brake hone and a little penetrating oil should slick those tappet bores up fine once you get them out.
