I pull a stock M in the 6000 lb class . We pull against SMTA,s they always beat the M,s by using the TA.
We tried to get this rule changed but couldn,t. Any opinions? Thanks Clif

My kids pull our IH504 against Farmall M's, 400's and SMTA's in the stock 5000# class. The Row Crop models have 100 or more (sometimes MUCH more) cubic inches than we have. We're competitive ONLY because we know how/when to use the TA on the 504. I farmed with my family with Farmalls for 30 years, models Super C through 806. Dad traded a M for a SuperMTA and never looked back! My advice is to enter the ANTIQUE classes where the TA is not permitted to be used. It's amazing how many M's are pulled in the stock classes that are nowhere near stock! (read the other posts here). I hope this helps, Don

When it comes down to it, there really is no such thing as a stock class. Someone is always sneaking in with some secret under the hood.Besides their is really no efficent way to check if a tractor is stock so you just have to fend for yourself, pulling is a game of traction most of the time HP is just a bonus

If you can't beat them, find something to cry about, (or try to get the rules changed) and then get them DQ'ed. Sounds like some whinning #%!%#@# who pull against me!!!!!

You can drop an M to 4500 but you'll have to pressed steel on it and it won't look stock but would pull very well. But you should be able to beat him if you get you hitch set up right and use you extra weight to you advantage. The MTA prolly had REALLY sharp tires and if it is a stock class thats where i would put my money at

Lose Weight. The Farm stock M's around here stick to 5000-5500#. If your rules allow it, step up to a 4 1/8 overbore kit. Shave the head a little. One stocker here is running that and getting a little over 70 hp.

I would like to see what mine gets on some of these "dnyos". I've got 4 1/4 M and W's, 450 lp head shaved just so the pistons fit the pocket, and a .010 copper head gasket to name just a few. I got a whopping 72hp. I know my dyno is off about 2 or 3 hp. I've checked it against 3 other dynos. I need some of these magic parts.

I got SMTA. Stock block most likely 4 1/8 bore. stock carb. tuned up. different air filter that all. Dynoed at 68hp. I bought it off a farmer who farmed with it for 20 years. So it was not built for pulling til I got it. Take it for what its worth. Don
