I have been around plenty of transfer sleds, but I don't think that I have ever seen dead weight pulls. Is this done like draft horse pulling? I am assuming that you simply have a weighted sled and the tractor must move it a specified distance to move to the next weight. You would continue to add weight to the sled until nobody can pull it. Is this correct?

You are correct!! It is figured by percentage,, Weight of the tractor divided by the weight pulled. Another name for it is Stoneboat pulling. You have up to 4 tractors in a round,, when each one "full pulls" they add 1500lbs and go again until one can't pull it, then the next puller in line is in the round. usually the street, or pad is 18ft wide, and a full pull is 100 inches. It does not sound like a far distance,, but it is more difficult that ya think!!! LOL,, that 720 you have would be a good one !!! Hope this helps!! Chad

In our area we go by the weight of the tractor. I don't know what the weight classes are now but when I was pulling years ago in the Indiana Tractor Pullers Association, we pulled 5,000#, 6000#, 7500# and 9000#. These were the maximum wts. your tractor could weigh in each class. We added 1000# each round to the boat. If you full pulled you went to the next round. When you got to the round where no one could pull it the full distance, The guy who pulled it the farthest in the last round was the winner. We pulled our JD G in all the classes.

I forgot to mention that we pulled on concrete and a full pull was 8 FT. You got 2 attempts to make the full pull.
