Most any head is repairable. I've seen heads repaired that had a valve come loose and beat out the quench area into the water jacket and trashed the bowl.

listen to actual pullers some as Scott Boehler, not people who just talk, like TIMC. Go watch the Under Pressure 88 that TIMC works on, you'll see what I mean!! It runs OK if it was a 320 inch 88! What a sad sight! Maybe he quenched it too much!!

Hope you are enjoying the nice warm weather down there in Texas and your brand of humor at my expense. Next time at least make it funny. I enjoy a good laugh now and then too.

if you take a style head and shave it down as far as you can you will lose a little compression compared to a flat head, but probably not any horsepower. my experience is a shaved style head and flathead are as good as the other, and some people say the style head will give you more torque.

Not sure on the HP..... You will losed a lot.. with just the M&W style pistons will have about 6.5 to 1 ratio... If U havn't cut any thing off the block.. It will take some work to make up the compression.. and If you are going to go back to a flathead.. You could cut down a styled head for a while... but it will get U by.. A million different things U can do to get the compression back using the styled head.. but will take some work.. JDGnut

520, Are you sure the is not repairable. I don't
know where you are located but there is a place in Mt Vernon Il that is real good at repairing heads. They welded one up for me. I will see if I can find the name and number so please email me. Scott
