a hyd pump will work, but you will need to figure out the displacement and speed that the original one turns and pumps than find a comparable size hyd pump and drive it close to the same speed. use a pressure regulater and a remote mount filter base to controll oil pressure. Dry sump pumps for raceing applications work well driven off front pully. Don't use too big of pump or you are just pumping extra oil and wasteing power. I have one that fits where a magneto would, let me know and I can find one or tell you where to get one

Hydrolic pump w/pulley driven by front pulley. Will have to figure out pulley sizes to run proper volume and use an aftermarket pressure regulator. Then you have to figure out the filter and plumbing. This also helps take the load off of cams that have been ground down in stroker motors. I removed the exterior (heavy) oil filter assembly and installed a remote filter behind the radiator fan with hydrolic hoses. I made my own pressure regulator out of a billet peice of aluminum some fittings and a spring and ball bearing.

This allows 25 lbs hot at idle and 45 lbs at 3 grand with factory pump. Hydrolic pump should do the same.

The Summit racing catalogue has pages of external oil pumps etc for wet and dry sump engine lube systems. Always wondered why dry sumps are uncommon with even highly modified engines.

You need to call Duke Harrington!! He is the guy who put came up with the hydraulic pump idea and made it work!! Ole Timmy just claimed he was the engineer and figured it all out. You need to but a 1-2-or 3 stage pump that is made just for this. You can find a used one froma sprint car, etc.. Belive me you don't want to use a hydraulic pump if it will make your tractor run like Randy Head's oliver(Tilley's old tractor)(TimC chief engineer and B.S.er)!

So you don't misunderstand let me explain it in ways you will understand.

Re-read to see I took no credit on using that type oil pump. Just told him what could work.

The home made pressure regulator whet on a Red Diamond motor where I removed the external oil assembly which houses the over pressure bypass on Don's 600 cid 460. Is there any other little detail I need to clarify for you?
