I would like to cut out counter weights and weld on an allis 4 cyl crank, anyone done something like this? how much weight and how far out from the centerline? or just put on as much as you can? Plan on turning the eng pretty fast( high 5's and low 6's) and think that this would eliminate a lot of stress on the center main and gain hp. Any help would be appreciated.

At that kind of rpm the additional weight would benefit it would help to dampen the harmonics and you could have it balanced for that rpm range. This used to be a common practice on inline engines that did not have enough counter weight for increased rpm and stress.

The opposing rod journal should make up for it. Just get the pistons and rods lightend and balanced to each other and have the crank balanced after fitting a good (fluid damper) vibration damper to replace front pully. Then have the flywheel balanced or come up with a light weight flywheel. Buy a scatter blanket from Stroud.

Then you might need to have some larger valves and porting done.

Right or wrong thats what I would do.
