jd pullers. any of you that can't make this head work on a small engine need to find your problem.it is not the head.i'm running 600 cubes at20 over on rpm an rpm never drops below 1100 in 8500 pound class in second gear with 18-4 -38 cut tires. took 2 years to figure out. it's all in the camshaft. tried alot of cams(wasted alot of money) you need to work on your combo to get it to work. the head will not work magic by itself.

Very little overlap across TDC. Little bit later exhaust valve opening because the big port will satisfy blow down early on. Get exh closed closer to TDC. Later intake valve opening (prevent reversion). Earlier intake valve closing because the port will meet the flow requirements earlier in the intake stroke than the smaller heads plus there will be very little kenetic energy left in the intake port due to low velocity causing reversion. Intake center line that puts valve at max lift w/cyl at max demand.

Better yet, start with a head that flows more than is demanded and weld it up(intake and exhaust) to improve flow quality and improve on it laminar flow ability and get the port velocity to the correct % of MACH speed and there by taking advantage of ram tuning and cyl scavenging. You get a better flowing head than any of the stock heads or the aftermarket heads because it is designed for the exact CID and RPMs/max torq band desired.

Or maybe you don't.

that ain't too good considering we have a stock G flathead with .090 pistons..no cam or nothing..just a 3 angle and port and polish and was making 72hp. I say was because we tore it down because the head cracked again.
