I have seen a few done. Several ways to go about it. Some have adapted the V8 to the stock bellhousing with an adapter plate. If you go that route be sure to line up the crankshaft with the original centerline for the bellhousing. The other method is to us a V8 and automatic and remove the Oliver or Massey bellhousing and drive shaft and direct couple the tranny to the chain coupling on the input of the tractor transmission. Not much difference in length but would want to do ALOT of measuring first to decide just how to much modifing you want to do. I think there will be enough room in the 44 or the 77 for the automatic. That does solve the clutch problems plus makes it easier to start off in a higher gear in the tractor. If you use the auto it would be wise to use a manual valve body or at least a kit in yours to make it stay in whatever gear you put it in. If the track is good and the motor lugs down enough for the auto to downshift you will get to try out your wheelie bars. Leave me your email and I will contact you. If you get started and have questions I will be glad to offer support. Got access to a machine shop? It will certainly help if you do.
