Straight pipes on turbo motor ?

Regarding the posts on pipes earlier, what would be the ideal length and diameter for a chrome stack on my 6030 ? Currently it has an adapter to take it from 4in (turbo outlet) to 5in dia. stack. Will this affect back pressure or just act as an expansion box ? The pipe is 3 ft in length and looks a bit to short (smoke in face). Is there a technical way of working this out ? As far as I know the engine is stock apart from increased fuel delivery. Currently 240 at the shaft. Any help/advice much appreciated. Thanks Chris.

Don't know about lenght when a compressor is involved but if you need to lenghten it and it seems to cause backpressure restricting the turbine you might get a little back by insulating everything that doesn't have to look pretty to keep the EG velocity as high as possible. I doubt you would ever notice a problem by adding a longer pipe. You can always fit a chrome pipe over the correct size collector if you have to have the chrome.

Sorry, no hands on experience with turbo mods. Never had a problem with the daily driver that was forced induction expept when the cad-converter stopped up.
