I got a question for you guys. I have a 1206 right now with the solar turbo that I need to get rid of. I would like to put a 3LD schwitzer on the tractor. I called the local tractor place and the guy told me I need a whole kit to go to the schwitzer. I need a new exhaust elbow, plate in between the turbo and manifold, hose from the intake to turbo, and the turbo itself. The oil line don't come in the kit and he didn't think the ones off the solar would work either. The kit was $1350! I've heard the 3ld is the stock replacement and bolts on-the 3lm needs modifications to make it bolt on. I am wondering if this guy got them confused. Could I get these parts from a 1256 or 1456?

Any help or info would be greatly appreciated.

Have done this on both my 1206s their are other turbos you can use.But yes on the 1256 parts they will retro fit the 06.One of mine I used the 1456 manifold & exhaust elbow 3lm turbo and air intake tube and shortend the oil return tube. The other one I used origonal ex man with the spacer plate off of 1256 and ex elbow & intake pipe.Only thing is 3ld rebuilds are expensive.Theirs a place here in Iowa that can fix the Solars now.I believe in Fort Dodge.Near future plan on putting on a 3lm466 on my hotter running 1206

Just go to the salvage yard and get the few things you need, the 3ld would be the way to go, yeah you will need oil lines, etc, but I bet it wouldnt cost much at the junk yards, good luck.
