Increasing valve spring pressure on a JD G

Does any one know what set up works for incraesing valve spring pressure on a G. I had heard 720 gas inside the G's,any ideas.

why? the g has the most seat pressure of the abg series.the seat pressure is enough to run 1800rpm and higher lift cam so again why?more pressure than is necesary will only rob power.Paul

If you have enough stroke, it will suck the valves open.

there aint no way buddy.firstly when the piston is being pulled down on intake stroke the intake valve is open.second time around when piston going down it has a pretty mean fire ball of pressure holding valves shut. also go to 9th grade science book nothing gets sucked it is air pressure that pushes. finally on your double hit concern unless you are running way too much valve lash(or rpm) i dont think will be a problem the valve seat pressure on a g is pretty stiff compare to others anyway.Paul

Why do they do it on race engines is it strictly an rpm issue? What do you think hammered the valves out so much in 3 yrs. I run leaded gas too.

Race cars run lots of rpm and pretty radical cam profiles.the more rpm the higher the forces heavier valve springs wich means heavier components wich begats more spring pressure wich means heavier yet components wich goes on and on.I have heard of some prostock engines having up to 1100lbs of open pressure.now to your problem could be a dozen different things valve guides too loose, and valve lash way to loose, worn valve stems,poor seats with inadequate heat transfer,dirty air? contrary to what has been posted around on this page opening lash beyond stock plus .010or.015" will really slam valves shut and cause bounce if you need more than this and dont want to pull head on regular basis change cam profile)also did the last guy that ground valves know what was going on,valve jobs that dont last usually not done properly.I hope this helps Paul

It has 9.750 stroke and and a jerry's head after 3 yrs the seats and intakes are pretty hammered.
Was told by a race engine builder that more pressure would keep them from double hitting.
