Over on the Oldihc.org message boards, under the L-R-S series heading, there's some info on converting an HEI distributor from a 250 Chevy six to run in an International six...shaft has to be modified, and because of a difference in the direction of rotation, an advance unit from an Olds has to be used...but it might be worth it for your 460/H project, as the guys who've used it says it made a HUGE difference on their old trucks.

I remember an old hot rodder saying that one of the first things you need for performance is an ignition system "you can weld with"...and this just might be one!

THe old hotrodder was the late Smokey Yunick.
The comment was describing electronic ignition as Arc Welder Ignition.

ARE WE BOTH CRAZY??!? I was just thinking earlier this week about hunting up a Ford Duraspark distributor from a 300 six and trying to adapt it to MY '52 International six (BD264, transplanted years ago to replace the SD220...probably out of a late '50's truck, since the front engine mount looks the same as the SD220 mount in my '51 pickup). My idea was, AFTER making the Duraspark system work, trying to adapt the EFI system from a 300 six to the ol' Binder-truck. (I prefer the Duraspark to the later model distributor with the TFI module attached to the outside of the distributor; seen too many heat-related failures of the TFI modules.)

Besides, the folks over at the JustInternationals website are using the Duraspark distributor to help add GM TBI fuel injection to the IH SV engines (266-304-345-392 V8's)...so I'd bet they could give you some technical help on troubleshooting an EFI setup.

I do like the duraspark ignition,,, But I belive I can bypass the duraspark box and replace it with a MSD 6al box. I also know, that on fuel injection,, the 6al will run the trigger to activate the injectors,,, I have some research to do about the difference in the right power input, and output so I dont burn up the stator inthe distributor. Also,, the ford dist,, would be easier to modify to fit in the IH 6. Chad
