Burns - I absolutely LOVE the k-1000 gaskets from Lubbock! I have even re-used them up to 3 times without problems (on my own stuff; not recommended however). I have always used these gaskets "dry." I have never had a problem with leakage. I did use Hylomar on the ONE copper head gasket that I have tried. That damn thing only lasted three pulls on the dyno prior to utter meltdown!! I swore that I would never use a copper gasket again! Given the high cost, poor reliability, and susceptibility to leakage, the K-1000 gaskets from Lubbock win hands down. The 4 cylinder copper gasket that I had made in California cost $185. The gaskets that I get from Lubbock typically run under $100. Add back in the cost of not having the block O-ringed and the associated hassle (when NOT using Lubbock) and it just really appears foolish (to me) to ever use a copper gasket, again. In addition, if you have a problematic gasket blower, you can opt for the "double jacketed" drop-in fire rings instead the cliched rings. I used these on my Oliver 88 to solve a head gasket blowing problem. Well the next time down the track, the head gasket held, but I blew a hole in the piston instead! Found out later that my engine was leaning out severely on the top end and detonating. All of this was caused by inadequate fuel flow out of the fitting on the aluminum tank! Go with Lubbock K-1000, you will not go wrong! Regards, Goldsburg
