I want to locktite the flywheel bolts on a MM. I know red is supposed to be the strongest but how does it compare to locktite bearing and stud lock? I realy want these bolts to stay tight. Thanks, Andy

Andy you have to use the MM bolts they have a special shoulder disregard these other posts they are trying to help but apparently don't know what these bolts look like.

i hate to be different, well no i don't but that is another story.
i had a problem with mine wanting to come loose with red loc-tite,i now use green sleeve retainer.
that will hold them, even sucks to get them loose when you want but they don't come loose anymore.
also go to a bolt store and get machine screws, they normally carry a grade of between 12-14.

THROW THE OLD BOLTS AWAY !!!
ONCE A CAPSCREW HAS BEEN TORQUED, IT HAS BEEN STRETCHED ! PEPLACE WITH A GRADE-8 BOLT.
PLAIN FINISH, THEN USE RED LOCTITE !!!

LIKE GASKETS, IN A HIGH TORGUE OR CRITICAL APPLICATION, NEW CAPSCREWS SHOULD BE USED !

I would like to replace the nut and locking retainer that holds the clutch on the input shaft,(a prevous owner used a chisel instead of a 2" socket to take it of). AGCO no longer stocks them. Any ideas on where to look for new one?

Speaking of fastners, the last farmall motor I did, I called ARP about head studs and nuts. They actually had the size and lengths I needed in stock and while not cheap they were comparable to to Case/IH. The quality is also about 100% better too. No regrets so far.

242 is the blue medium for 1/4 to 3/4 fasteners, 271 is the red high strength up to 1" fasteners, I think the blue is ample don't over torque those flywheel bolts or they will stretch.LW

The red high strength is what they call permanent, there is one that is high strength for bolts over a 1/2 thats what I like, Its not a permanent.

That loctite is blue I'll get you the #, Yes pulled it this weekend did rather well considering there wasn't enough weight on the front 1st hook, mag pick-up took a crap on the 2nd hook but it did fine for the first time out.

Glad to hear you finally got to shake down that new MM LW. Did yall get wet sat evening? It rained out the Tough Enough pull after about 21 classes. It was a long slow ride home in the pouring rain.
