NIATPA rule question

Question boys;

I want to come to South Bend Indiana to the pull at the St Joe county fairgrounds. After noticing that no one (I am making some generalizations here) runs aluminum covers over anything except PTO and belt pulleys, I realized thatthere is no rule which remotely covers aluminum transmission/rearend tops. It does not fall under the rule of "no framerail alterations" because it has nothing to do with the frame. If it were a farm stock it would have to comply with the rule which states that nothing can be removed, as found in the miscellaneous section, but is isn't. It is a modified, and there is not any applicable rule which will limit me from running an aluminum rearend platform, provided it is easily accessable and complies with safety rules. I need to know, am I correct? If not, show me. I have no desire to pull to South Bend or Westville, or Nappannee, or anywhere else, and be DQ'ed over a gray area technicality. I will not be any major competition
to you guys, but like I said, I don't want any DQ's resulting from personal opinion, or personal interest. Gas just costs too much these days, plus it is money the club does not get. It's your call, give me some responses....AC

All I know is that, any part can be removed provided there was a factory cover available to take its place, of course, there was no other cover for the top plate unless it was a 39,, or a 9 speed, or ones that had only 4 forward speeds. Like I said, dont care at all!! I welcome any modified tractor to pull in lite classes, Tom you are right, where did they all go????? Chad

AC, Personally, I could care less if it does have an aluminum top plate. BUT, that rule that you mentioned is a multi purpose rule. Rules also say must be stock in appearence, stock and modified, basicly that means that everything visable to the naked eye, should look like an antique tractor, or OEM,, I went through this a few years back with my H, In one way, consider the rule as more to be a safety issue, to me frame alterations are when you affect the wheel base, but that is not how they intend the rule to read, event though it is not allowed. Ac, it dont take long to swap out tranny covers!! LOL We dont have any type of officials to make the decision to determine its safety, to make the decision,, But hey,, they allow a 88 engine in a 77,, but he is a board member also,,,,, HMMM,,,, in the mods,,, that decision was made,, but, it hides unde the side shields. It has been this way since the beginning,, bottom line, it is board member, and membership preference,, to have them all cast iron. Chad

Well, I am not for sure, I dont make the decisions, I support it all the way, for it is a door waiting to be opened, Ol Jake has that M at 4000 lbs,,, all you can do is either call Budd, or show up. Tom, You remember when I got DQ'd for the front end cut out on the H??? it was a long time ago,,, all I can say is ask. ChadS

I don't want to be the bad apple here...lol...but I was paying a lot of attention to a couple tractors thursday afternoon! That's how I justified this all in my head.The tractor is a 39 and I have the correct top but probably won't have time to swap them between now and then. I haven't even picked up the tractor yet. There is a guy coming (so he says) to get my Farmall 100 tonight, so I should be able to get the H tomorrow, I hope. It need a tune up bad. I mean heck, they say no l/s rearends, but who ever the old boy was with the moline, had an awful damn racket coming from the rearend when ever he tried to turn sharp...kinda sounded like something was welded inside..oops dare I say that? That wasn't this year, but late last year...maybe it's just who you know.....or who you scare...THANKS GUYS....AC....so maybe I should call Bud Dawson?
