Got mine finished up last night. Gonna give it a try Saturday afternoon. I"ve heard folks say that the R isn"t real easy to get balanced and I"m wondering where to start with front-end weight.

This one is 206cid, road-worn 12.4x28 Armstrongs, 18" drawbar height, 24" back of the axle centerline.

I haven"t had it on a scale, but I think it will make the 3000lb class with me on it. If it won"t make that I"ll start at 3500lbs.

What do you guys think?

I"d start nose heavy in 3500 and play for a while. Wheelie bars couldn"t hurt. Mine is about 3000 and I have not pulled it yet. I"ll keep ya"ll posted on how it goes. It"s a 206. Maybe try to get 2750 and I think it would balance well. Keep us informed and good luck on the best little tractor around!

Augie,

I always run about a hunnert out there. But I have never run it with a drawbar that long or that low, and we allow 20 inches to the front for weight. If you have it stripped clear down you Might make 3k. If you do I don't think you will need any nose weight, but i would put any extra that you can add up there. 3500 I would try 1 up front and 4 on the rear.

Of course all of this depends on the track too

Glad to hear Rozie is alive.....and good luck

Joe

The track we're pulling on Saturday doesn't hold a lot of power. It's river bottom dirt with a lot of sand. Tends to be kind of greasy early and pretty well blown away by the end of the 4500 class.

The scale at this one is kind of flaky too. It's one of those single-axle jobs. You drive on with the front and the scale man writes down the weight, then you drive on with the back and he adds the two numbers. Last year we went across with the VACuum and were 15lbs too heavy. Threw some off and went across again. Put the 15 back and added 85 on top of that. Scale guy just shrugged his shoulders.

I don't know what your rules state, but everywhere I know of is minimum 18" from center of axle on hitch, and if you can, get it that short. You might make 3000, but you will never keep it on the ground, because I am figuring you will have very very little or no weight on the front weighing that light.

24" is the minimum drawbar length that we"re allowed in our farmstock class. We do get 12" out front for hanging weight.

How much on the front would you recommend for the 3500 and 4000lb classes?
