Looking to upgrade the horsepower on a John Deere diesel 4010 (with 4020 kit) to the 150-180 horsepower range for tractorpulling next summer. What size injectors, and size and type of turbo do I need to look for to get into this horsepower range? And what manifold should I use, and what upgrades should be done to the injection pump. Any help would be appreciated!

some one can correct me if I am wrong but I think you will need more camshaft overlap ( like the 4520)to get much over 120 horse.also you will need more oil capacity to lube turbo.
good luck Paul

By no means am I a Deere expert but I have an exhaust manifold off of 4440 and a to4 charger, I think the proper 3lm would work as well, you are basically wanting 4520 horsepower. I think you could find a set of lasered injectors on a pulling page classified that someone wants to sell.

You have the exhaust manifold from a 4440 and a turbo? What kind of condition is the turbo in, is it in good usable condition? How much would you ask for the parts? Would you happen to have the intake manifold?

you have to be careful here and look at the rules first, most rules state in farm classes that the factory manifold(S) must be used WITH the modification for mounting turbos, so check your rules before yougo to far, been there done that
