How is the cc volume of an injection pump measured? What is the volume of say a stock rebuit Roosamaster with the leafspring turned tight? Our 1256 has stock lines, injectors, and pump mentioned above combined with a ported head, Columbus built 3lm,and a slightly hotter cam with .330 lobe lift and 230 degrees duration @.050".Do we have a snowball's chance of making any power with this fuel system ,or will we be short on fuel?

can you run the inline pump. I've got a fresh one from Scheid diesel that has not been on the tractor since I got it back. I cant run due to a rule change. Let know if intersted.. I will sell it cheaper than you can have one done..

the cc's of fuel are calabrated by a certain number of strokes of the pump 100 i think. your setup will work but you dont have enough to max it out. you should look for a 450 head .093 lines and big tips. st joe is the place to go for that. our 856 is at 8300lbs with no 3pt fiberglass front and fenders.

Off of the subject, but I was wondering how light you got your 1256 down to, thinking of building a 1206.

depends how much work you want to do and what the rules say.
i have a 856 with 400 series engine,86 series sheet metal w/rollcage and it weighs 6800 with me in the seat.
i don't know how light they can get,but i'm going to see if i can't shave a few hundred lbs off yet.

The pump has to be calibrated on a test stand to measure the cc's. There are many ways to make the pump put out more fuel or fool it into thinking it's putting out more fuel. As far as the leaf spring goes there are four different ones 7-0 to 7-3. If I remember correctly your stock pump for that tractor has a
7-1 spring on it. The bad thing about bottoming the leaf spring is that it makes them prone to breakage. I assume that you are going to pull this tractor. What kind of H.P. and RPM range are you going for? I do know that those tractors are capable of good H.P. Your pump should have a .370 dia. plunger head in it. You might want to go to a .390 or larger head in the pump, larger lines and have
the nozzle tips lasered out. Beyond that its up
to you. I know Columbus can do this for you, I have read in magazine they can build pulling set-ups. I used to work in a fuel injection shop, and I did build a couple of pulling pumps, but never with a Roosa pump. My boss did a couple and showed me some tricks but always said to be careful when doing high output pumps cuz they might do strange things on the test stand. I hope that you have good luck getting the Red iron to smoke and run well !!

have you thought about a good inline A pump? I have one for sale that flows 250-370cc with fuel chart. The rotary pumps tend to break a lot when pushed real hard.
