shipman built my engine, and a am well pleased with it and would reccomend him to anyone. he really knows case engines, and furthermore, you have to build competetive engines in order to stay competative in the engine building business. give him a call if you haven't and see what he can do for you

To each his own, but I don't think I would ask a potential competitor to build a part for me. I would find some one who is more neutral in that particular area.

Cornnette Machine shop in Somerset Ky does excellent work. Very resonable in prices too.

I don't follow you on that.
Care to elaborate?

Oh...for what it is worth...Cornette Machine Shop has 3 cranks there now for Gingerich to put a 6.1 inch stroke on them.

GOOD!! Then there will be two 3.05 pieces when they break!!! Elaboration is why have Gingerich build an 88 for you if he may be a "potential competitor"--call your tractor, "RUNNING SCARED"

Andy Teasley bought Brad Begemans 88 with a Shipman engine in it. It is now setting in Springfield Tenn with a 2 piece crank. The crank was an 1850, not an 88 crank by the way. It broke in the journal and the rod was holding the 2 halves in place. And Andy thought he had just messed up his clutch.

Anybody's engine can break regardless of who built it. Gingerich isn't building my engine and I wouldn't know him from Adam but he has been very nice when I talked to him a few times about buying some parts.

I don't think Shipman builds the cranks. I am under the impression he just assembles the parts after the custom manufacturing process. Kinda like what I am doing to my engine.

I heard a rumor that the 88 you're talking about is NOT in Tennessee, BUT at Shipman's getting a 7 main steel crank! They said it broke behind the journal, not where it was welded, etc, etc. He did a WC for a buddy of mine..he DOES the cranks himself, all of it! The mafia man you refer to is an assembler, just like you! When the 7 main steel crank gets her running again, look out! It may "accidently" gain a little more cubes?!?!?

I knew Shipman was a talented guy but I was not aware he actually did the cranks himself. (I was misinformed by my source). I might have to talk with him myself should I need more crank work later on.

I have not met any of these gentlemen, had work done by them or even bought parts from them, therfore I can not vouch for any of their work.

jack,
actually the crank did break where it was welded at the radius on the journal. At least that is what Andy told us.
