I want to add some weight on the front end of my JD unstyled A. I can't use hang on weights so I thought I would fill the tires with antifreeze and water. I've got 5.5-16 tires on it and was wondering if I filled them about 2/3 full of fluid, how much extra weight would that give me on the front end? Thanks.

Thanks for the replies. Do you think 1 gallon of the RV antifreeze (pink looking) from TSC per tire would be enough and then use water to fill tire?

I did the same thing last year with just water (same size tires) 45 lbs per tire. I bought an adapter at TSC to fill with and I used my air compressor to remove the water in the fall. Worked good for me. BUDD

I use calseum cloride in my front tires. I laid them flat on the ground and pumped them as full as the pump would pump. I put the valve core back in while it was squirting out. Takes new tubes every other year. I have done this twice on the one tractor and see yesterday that one tire is low now. The valve stem becomes soft and leaks around the brass insert. I can take hold of the stem threads with a pair of plyers and yank the stem out. The antifreeze would probably not soften the rubber stem but you would not be as heavy. I have never weighed the wheel to get the exact weight. I just used it as a starting point. My tires are 5.50 x 15"s. It does make a difference for Div. one where you can not hang weights.
