I'm interested in hearing about experiences in pulling a MM 5 Star. In our area (Oregon), most tractor pulling is done with more or less stock tractors. Hitches can be modified for height and hitch point, the RPM can be boosted a little but for the most part the tractors are pretty much stock. That is, we don't go down the road of M5 blocks and G cranks on 283 engines. So is it possible to get the 5 Star in the 6000 lb. class without going to aluminum rims or other high zoot lightweight parts? How competitive is the 5 Star against, M, 460 & 560 Farmalls, John Deere 60's and 70's, Allis D17's and the like in both the 6000 lb. (if possible) and 7000 lb. classes? Is 2nd gear low range considered a good gear to pull in or is low/low best? Your thoughts and experiences would be most appreciated. Tom
