I had a closer look since you all brought it up. I took a file, and filed down all around the domes, no evidence of cracks, smooth surface underneath. The area along the side of the dome where the casting flash is more evident (in the center of the piston, between the dome tower, filed it smooth. I was looking for pits underneath the casting flash itself, where air may have got under the material, or? but saw nothing of any sign of a crack. The piston heads of these pistons are over 1/2inch thick from the very top, to where it will go through the piston, (break through from too much taken off) These pistons did not have no where near that much taken off material wise. I did get the short block and the front end back on the 450 and all tightened up, and turning over with the starter, Head is on its way this afternoon! Just installing the ignition/hyd pump, governor (M&W) and cleaning up tools as I go along. I got another Super M in yesterday to build up, Ill show a smoother version of the pistons Im making without the flash, its going to be bigger than this 450, Cubic Inch wise. More stroke,,, ChadS
