Off the subject of tractor pulling but I just got my first full size pickup this weekend. That said, I have some questions. It's a 3500 Dodge with the 325 Cummins Diesel, 4.10 rearend, 6 speed manual transmission, quad cab, 6 foot bed. I've been hearing about computer chips to improve fuel mileage, torque, etc. Has anyone been using these with success? If so what brand, price, and place to get them, etc. Also, is it better to go with a K&N air filter on this type setup? Thanks for in advance for any useful information.

I would use the truck just like it is,325 HP is more than enough to pull 20000+ around without any problem,My 2004 Ford with 325 HP 6.0 has no problem here in the big hills of Pa,neither dose a frends 2005 Gmc duramax.

I have an 03 HO cummins that I love, but beware when you start adding aftermarket performance boxes. I"ve played with both Edge and Bullydog boxes, but usually run the truck stock (especially for towing). Definitely run an EGT gauge even if you just tow stock. The Superchip boxes are strictly rail pressure which is dangerous on these common rail engines. Definitely become a member of the TDR website - great information on both the website and in the bi-monthly magazine.

The TDR can be a good investment... I just save over $90 on parts because of discounts offered to TDR members...

What year? TST chips are the best out there for the new Cummins 600's. Extra 150 horse just with the chip. Bigger exhaust is recommended with it. Hallas Performance in Romeo Michigan can hook you up. He modified an old 12 valve for me 450 horse pullin motor. I can get the number if your from the area.

Don't forget to add a set of gauges... Normally you will pick up a little with a added box or programer.. mainly do the the timing change.. (if the box or programmer that you chose changes timing.) Do some reading.. check out TDR1.com and dieseltruckresource.com.. I don't really like the pressure style boxes.. but most use some pressure.. (except the programmers..) the high hp boxes will use both pressure and duration to increase HP.. Good Luck..

go with a programer like superchip. easy installation and has 3 settings and you can do some digonstics with it. be sure to take it out before you go to dealer for service because they have to erase program when they do there readings. don't let them tell you it will void your warrenty even making that statement is illegal for a dealership.
