Ever have those days,, where you work, and work, and work, never seem to have time to do your own thing? Finally, I got time to WORK on my own tractors for once! I took a break on the 450 on Friday, Im thinking, it needs a bigger intake,,, anyways,, I took the ol 460 apart, the head is junk, the bores are glazed over, not much of a wear ring at the top of the bores. Im gonna re ring the old engine, and go pulling. I decided to wait on the truck head conversion, I had a rebuilt regular plain jane cyl head, Gonna mill it .100 and port n polish it up, along with the manifolds. I was thinking,,, the worn out engine,, made 155 psi of compression, which in my opinion is not too shabby, with worn out rings,, LOL when I took the head off, there was oil puddled on top of the pistons, it just ran 20 mins before I took it apart, and wasnt smoking, but had blowby,,, Pistons looked really good, not scuffed up or cracked like the last 263 I torn down and rebuilt. Valve guides in the old head were like crystalized,,, very brittle. The new head got new guides, valves and springs and seats. That mite help the oil puddling on the piston heads. Hope the next time the 460 comes out on the tack,, it dont keel over and die,, like it did at Princeton last thanksgiving. Im leaving the 18.4s on it, and making weld on hubs, new wheelie bars, seat, and fenders. I got a few different styles of fenders to choose from,,, IH clam shells, Oliver, I wish I had a set of flat top fenders to install, but they would be really heavy,,, But would look good anyhow,,, Im also putting on reverse lights, and headlights on it. Trying to make it look FARM STOCK,,, or what have ya,,, Something Different,,,,, See ya! Keep on pullin! ChadS
