I have a 41 JD B that im wanting to make into a puller, and i had a couple of questions on what i was thinking about doing. i was thinking about doing an offset grind on my crankshaft, and was wondering if i could use Case DC rods. Will they work with B pistons? Are the pistons gonna be to tall? If they dont work would a 530 piston do the job? Thanks for any replies.

Well, I am not WTW, nor am I the next best thing, but I didn"t see anyone else post here so here goes...

Try to find a powerblock for the B. Bore it to 5.125 and get a set of Lycoming airplane pistons. If you offset grind it and use Farmall H rods, that will only get you to 6" stroke. If you are going to stroke it, you might as well do something fairly big -- 7" up to 7.25 or 7.5 -- I highly recommend Keith Merfeld out of Dubuque for the machine work. You can Fed Ex the crank for about $25. Keith knows more about combos of rods/crank diameters than I do. If you want something that should live forever, tell him you want 7" crank and the oliver rods.

Good luck.
