Got a 6-2 powerblock with cracked sleeves. I want to bore it and resleeve it as big as I can and still be able to run water. I have gotten prices to just have it done of $350, but need to come up with sizes, pistons, and sleeves to put in it. THanks for any help.

I have 6.750" in a 6-1 Power Block. It is hardblocked half way up. Jack's Automotive in Hooper, NE did it for $1100. I'm making billet pistons to go in it. The sleeves are WELDED in. Is this $350 for welded in sleeves, or a press job w/ windshield goo? If its just pressed in sleeves, you can buy a hand grenade for less than $350. It works for some people, but I also know of several that have come apart. In my opinion its cheaper to do it once and it hold together than twice because it came apart and took a couple grand worth of parts with it.

It came back from getting sleeved w/ the hardblock, didnt ask for it. I dont think it will hurt anything because the water wont circulate real well in the back of the block anyway.

If you weld in your sleeves yourself, weld them in before the shop finishes the bore, so any heat distortion from the weld is taken out.

That block and sleeve assembly should be preheated in a furnace or something to about 250F if the "O" rings are still in there. Let the block cool slowly and don't be afraid to peen the fused metal good after a weld pass.
