What are decent cut tires going for? Would I be better off buying a old set and having them cut? Probably 16.9x34 or 38.
Thanks

42Farmall, it is usually cheaper to buy a set already cut but it is not always "best". Not all tires are cut like they should be. I have had to recut a lot of tires that were not cut properly the first time. Some of these were cut by hand and some by machine before they were brought to me. Mike

Why do all of the "engine builders" and "tire guys" think they have the market cornered? I build my own engines and sharpen my own tires,by hand, and win in the NATPA and home and other places. After 30 years of this sport I've come to realize one thing,Div 1 to Div 5 they are all serious or they would not be there and alot of them still do thier own work, they don't just throw thier checkbook at the problem.

Mike said a lot.I'd recomend if your buying used cuts to have them mounted on a tractor jacked up so you can roll and check for uniformity of the cut and a consistant bar shape and profile. Many we see aren't even close to round, you'll have 1/2" tall bars in on spot and 3/4" in another.Buy good used and have them cut buy a REPUTABLE tire shop,ASK around and you'll find one.Behrends does ours and a lot of other people in our area, but find one close to work with.
