I"m pulling with a JD A in 1st gear and am spinning out without any loss of power at end of pull. I was wondering if I pulled it in 2nd gear would it make a difference? It"s got the creeper gear on it. Thanks for any good feedback.

Thanks for all of the feedback. My problem now is finding a tire to fit my round spoke rims. Do they make a wider tire to fit these without having to buy new rims, hubs, and wheels. I was thinking of 15.5 x 36? I know the ones I have on it now have a little lip left over that's sticking out past the tire, maybe 1/4". Just curious?

Second gear will probably just get you to the spin out spot a little faster. My first year of pulling I pulled with 12.4x38s and realized I was overmatched. My second year I went to 15.5x38s with long bar short bar lugs. It helped some. My 3rd year I went to some Road worn Firestone 15.5x38s with 23 degree lugs and suddenly became competitive. This year I'm using 16.9x34s. Go to natpa.com and click on their rules. You'll see a tire chart showing the "foot print" or sq. inches of various tire sizes...go with the biggest in your weight class and let'er eat. Have fun!!!

Definitely move up to second gear. What are you running for tires and rims? I run 14.9 x 38's on 14" pressed steel rims. Puts a lot a tire surface on the track. I don't have the first reduction gear so I usually have to run first gear which is 2.5 MPH.
