What is the best method of mounting 13.6 X 38 tires (good bead) on a set of sand blasted pressed steel rims WITHOUT using tubes? I want to avoid the extra weight. I don't care if they leak a bit, as long as they stay up for more than a day or two...any suggestions? AC

Done many sets myself, a can of ether(starting fluid) and a match does the trick for me, the trick is to get enough to set the bead, if you don't get enough it will just burn and not blow it on the rim, have the air hose ready and get it on as soon as you can, or the tire will fall of the rim in a few seconds, it is easy and fun if you like playing with fire.

I'll make sure I get enough in there...maybe 2 cans or so..lol..so if you hear a sonic boom in SW Mich, you know what happened... no, I really am planning on trying that. Luckily, it is only an 11" rim, so there is less room that I have to expand the tire bead.

Put silicone on the beads. I use it on car tires with bad beads and the don't leak any air.
