I was DQed as well for being 10 under the weight. In the 4501-5500 and like classes, we want the tractors to weigh at least 4500 and no more than 5500 etc etc etc. Now, if he had pulled a good distance on the sled, that 4501 weight figure would make the percent higher. Of course, so would 4480 would be higher yet. I do wish pressed steel was allowed in the farm stock classes, heck,, all the other models run em, so why not the IH's??? Bad thing about IH is that they only had cast rear wheels as the standard option, the rules say, if cast wheels were orginal, they must be used, if the model was offered both cast and steel, then they can run steel. it does hose the IH's, I agree. Throw on the casts and pull!! The ones that have steel dont pull well anyhow,,, at least in our farm stock classes. As far as the turnbuckles, well, we had that come up many times over the years, for the IH's, they have to have the origianl supports, well basicly original equipment. We did have a ollie a few years back break a turnbuckle and that is why we have that in place, we dont have wheelie bar rules in this class, and I would go out on a limb and say if an accident occured, due ot the aftermarket part failure, the insurance would not honor the claim, if that was the case. so we like to keep the hitches in stock form. I say come back, within the rules and pull, if that was a one time deal to pull with us, and he runs the steel wheels all the time, then it would not be worth the effort to convert it back to cast, but, if he did pull all the time with us, it may be no problem to set them up to our rules. Our farm stock rules have changed considerably from last year, suitcase weights, and being able to put them anywhere is a huge plus in my book!! I cant count how many have been ticked off and not come back just cause they only used suitcase weights, well, maybe they will come back since they can. Not much give on the cast wheels, and the turnbuckles,, its always been that way in NIATPA. CHadS
