New to pulling, M or H?

I'm new to pulling and am interested in giving it a shot. I've got an M and H that supposedly someone went through the motors before. For whatever it's worth, they've both been on a water-type PTO dyno. The M did 53hp and H did 35hp. I thought these were a little high. Would one of these be better at trying in pulling? Someone told me the H might be better because there's a lot of tractors that weigh as much as my M that put out more hp. I do also know there's a lot more to pulling than hp, but I thought this would start the discussion at least. Both have 80-90% tread and no fluid. Should I weigh them both and that will make the decision? Just want to have some fun and thanks for the info.

the M would be the better choice...the H's power to weight ratio is horrible

Get the H below 4000lb. (as Chads says) and you will have more fun beating the orange and other green than you will have going up against alot of other red brothers. It puts a smile on my face to beat a 70hp wd with my 33hp H because I can get it to the ground better. FB, suprised you still know the difference between an H and M! Where you been?

yep, the M would be the better choice. M's have the torque to play with, where the stock H dont, well it does, but at 35hp, you better be under 4000lbs to get what you can expect. The m should be good for 5000 up to 7000lbs in low gear, think about lightening them up to be able to use the HP at a lighter weight, youll get more from what you have when you lighten them up and balance them out. 53 aint bad for a stock M!! Seen em as low as 44 hp,,, Ive seen Super H's stronger than the 248 cube M'S !! Check your rules where you intend on pulling with,, and see exactly what you can do. Chad
