I'm having trouble finbding information on these two tractors when it comes to biulding them as pullers. I want to find out which would be the better, easier, and cheaper tractor to build for pulling? I have grown up on these tractors and would like to find one to pull.

Also one other question I have is how do you make the transmission hold up to the punisment of pulling? Slipper Clutch or what?

What kind of bill are we talking about for a hot farm or better puller?

Any other info or websites dealing with my questions would be helpful...Thanx

I've been told that the 190XT likes to eat the bull gears. Just something I heard from guys that farmed with them pretty hard.

been around them all their days and never seen a problem in the bull gear area as a trend. The old 190xt 2 pinion small axle rear did give some problems if the oil got low or hp too high but that was fixed by the 4 pinion setup. The first 190's had smaller bull gears as did the D21s. These old narrow gears are in high demand by pullers as the D21's in the 6000# class neeed all the help they can get making the light class.

Aaron, I have a d21 that I will be pulling this year for the first time. The only problems I'm having is making a weight class around here and doing some drawbar work. The drawbars are really low, but it doesn't seem to hinder traction too much. The clutch is a 14" compared to the 190's 10 or 11", so I've heard the drivetrain is pretty beefy. We have a 200 also, and parts are far cheaper for it than the 21, and easier to find. If you're not going to farm with it I would go for the 190 because they are cheaper to build and lighter, but if you want to plow or do field work then find a 21 for farm stock. My .02
