Anyone have trouble with the pertronics? I put a set in a pulling tractor this spring, pulled maybe 8 times, and then between pulls it decided to go to heck. Worked fine when tractor was ran last, shut off tractor, and when I started it next time, it ran like crap. Went to a hot magneto and all was fine. Now, my son installed one in a new car motor he built up, and after about 3 weeks, car wouldn't start. Same problem(pertronics). Anyone else have bad luck with these? Tractor seems to start and run just as well with hot mag. Should I just stay with mag as long as I feel it's running as good? Thanks.

All mine worked fine but I used thier coil that went with it.You have to use a coil with a 3 OHM resistor in it or the Pertronix will fail.

I use Petronix Ignitors on all engines I build. I have never had one go bad. I have see many of others go bad, but when i ask if they checked their coil resistance, always am told no. You MUST check the resistance of the coil you are using and use proper resistor to bring it within their specs.

The only problems I've seen with electronic ignition is if wrong coil is used with ignition or not wired correctly.

Nope, got it from CBS, out of an ad in the Hook Magazine. Told the guy exactly what it was going on, and he sent what was needed. Said no resistor was needed, got coil from hom also. Not sure what my kid did, he got everything from summit, but all was compatible. o.k. maybe I'll try it again. Thanks for the opinions!

Been using them for over 10 years. Had one go bad on a v4 Wisconsin, but thats all. Much better than Mexican or Chineese points.
