trying to pull a 730 d

I am goingto a tractor pull tonight. I am pulling my father-in-laws 730 diesel. I am a die in the wool red collector and puller and have never even sat on a 2 cylinder Deere.

I need to know how to pull it. How do I get some more power out of it? We can only make 700 PTO rpm's. Is there a way to turn up the fuel? What gear do I pull it in? I know the sled will have a straight chain so no real down draft. It has 18'4-38's on it.

Any Help would really be appreciated.

Thanks

Stephen

The rack screw is the easiest adjustment, but there are several adjustments needed to max things out.

Drop me an email if you want more info.

700 PTO rpm equals about 1450 engine rpm. You don't want to spin that diesel any faster than that! You are already in the danger zone. They don't respond well to being over-revved. It's just a low rpm engine.

Do you have the fuel rack screw backed out? That's about all you can do for easy power. Don't expect a big difference. A good healthy 730 should make about 70 hp max without modification. They pull much better in heavier classes. Short drawbar, max height is about all you can do.
